Hip Pain, Inflammation… and Baseball?

How is your hip like a baseball? ⚾️

Often when there is even a minor irritation or injury in the hip, the inflammatory process can do a number on the hip capsule.

A joint capsule is kind of like the leather on a baseball. Imagine injecting fluid into the leather on a baseball. Leather is thick and rigid, so it probably would be very tight stressing the stitching right?

That's what it's like when inflammation creeps into that joint. Often the pain is described as tightness, stiffness, deep ache you can’t get to by massaging.

That's where manual therapy comes in. At PhysioVictory we use our hands to help with that "it's just stiff" feeling. By mobilizing the joints in a way that you can't quite get to with basic stretching, you can often experience the relief that you've been missing.

If you know the tight baseball sensation personally, and haven’t been able to loosen it up on your own, EMAIL to book an appointment for hands on treatment with Dr. Lindsay or Dr. Claire.

Let me know if the baseball analogy was helpful!
