What is cupping? Answered by a DPT

A bruise that makes you feel better? Tell me more…

Although they look painful, they actually function to RELIEVE painful muscles. Like this example here where we used cupping to release angry lumbar paraspinals (the long skinny muscles that go up and down your spine).

Cupping therapy is a technique used to restore balance and reduce pain in the body. In cupping, special cups are placed on the skin to create suction, which draws impurities and toxins away from nearby tissues and organs towards the surface for elimination. By increasing blood flow to areas of pain or tension, cupping can help provide pain relief.

It is also known to be beneficial in promoting relaxation and aiding in the recovery of muscle fatigue. Cupping therapy can provide a great deal of relief for those suffering from chronic pain, stress, or tension. So if you're looking for an effective way to reduce pain, cupping therapy may be worth considering.

Clients say cupping feels “strangely relaxing” with a “subtle pins and needles sensation in the most irritable spots”.

What type of pain can you use cupping for?

My shoulder just never felt the same after I had to wear that sling

My low back just stays tight and seems to radiate

My lower neck and shoulder muscles always just stay so tight

How can you try out cupping yourself?
